Not a week passes by without us craving a nice, juicy serving of burgers and fries. This week though was a luckier week than most as we got to fill up our yapper with something far more awesome (and bigger) than the typical fastfood burger: Teddy's Bigger Burgers.

Originally from Hawaii, the burger joint was established by two burger-lovers, Ted Tsakiris and Rich Stula, who wondered why they couldn't find any fastfood burger that was as good as the ones they were grilling in their backyard. Their solution: open their own one. They opened their first branch in 1998 in Honolulu, Hawaii, aiming to recreate the appeal of the '50s burger joints, along with big burgers with a one-of-a-kind sauce, fresh ingredients, and only the best meat.

They opened their first Philippine branch in August 2014 at the third floor of Greenbelt 3. In this edition of the FHM Guide To Man Food, we let you in on our recent visit and show you really, really good burgers that made us slam our fist onto the table and scream "THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!"

OUR MAIN MAN: TEDDY'S MONSTER DOUBLE BURGER

If it's your first time at a burger joint, you always go with their signature product. It's their pièce de résistance, and it's what everything else in the restaurant was built around.

And what a burger to build things upon.

It packs a total of 10 ounces of char-broiled meat (around three quarter-pounders). Specifically: "chuck" cuts, or that meat from the cattle's shoulders known for its rich flavors and excellent balance of fat and meat. If that sounds like heaven, it's because it is heaven. The garnish was fresh, the sauce was tasty but not overpowering, but above all, the patty was tremendously good. And as if you were eating a steak, the restaurant also asks how you want your patty done, from rare to well done.

But what's more incredible is that this wasn't Teddy's biggest burger. They also have a nine-ounce patty that could be triple-stacked for the grand equivalent of nearly seven quarter pounders. That's Man Vs. Food material right there.

For something less impossible to consume, try out their Monster Double Dare challenge. Bring three of your friends, challenge them to a Monster Double Burger eating contest, and if you finish yours first, you don't pay. The other three? They pay for what they ate. For those looking for a really spectacular cheat day, might we suggest adding some bacon to the whole affair? Teddy's also offers burger customization, with a selection that ranges from extra toppings like jalapeno, buffalo sauce, onion rings to true-blue bacon strips.

THE SIDE DISH: TATER TOTS

Are those chicken nuggets? You are wrong. These are taters tots, which are essentially hash brown bites that kind of look like chicken nuggets. Also, they taste very good. If you're tired of the usual fries that are long, straight, and boring, these chicken nugget-shaped goodies are for you.

THE FINISHER: STRAWBERRY-PEANUT BUTTER THICK SHAKE

If you like ice cream, you will like this. It's not ice cream though; it's milk shake done the Teddy's way. They have several flavors—strawberry, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, peanut butter—but the awesome thing is you can mix and match.

It is very thick, has an ice cream-like consistency, and the flavors are very real. Our suggestion: Go with the strawberry-peanut butter combo. You won't regret it unless of course you have a lethal allergy to peanuts. In which case, stick to vanilla.
