If you’ve run out of plans for your next date, why not try something newbring your girl to the nearest art gallery! Believe us, a date at a museum is a great idea. Imagine: you get to take a stroll alongside her, exchange opinions about the paintings and sculptures around, and discuss art over coffee and cakes in the museum restaurant. If it sounds pretentious, just give it a shot. 

Now that we’ve convinced you to finally unleash your inner artsy-farts bro, here are some museums and art galleries where you can take your art-appreciating lady.

1) National Museum of the Philippines

Entrance fee: FREE

 

The National Museum of the Philippines houses three buildings that are all must-visits: the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Planetarium. They have an exquisite collection, which ranges from artifacts from thousands of years ago to modern-day pieces. Don’t forget to take a picture beside the huge Spoliarium painting. Also, visit the newly-opened National Planetarium, which has various shows you and your girl will love.

2) Ayala Museum

Entrance fee: P425 for a full access pass (Entrance fee is FREE for May 19 only)

 

Ayala Museum has several exhibits which are sure to satisfy your culture vulture cravings. They have Philippine Diorama Experience and Maritime Vessels Exhibits, paintings by Filipino masters, and other special collections you can view such as trade ceramics, pre-colonial Philippine gold, national costumes, and so much more. For International Museum Day, the museum has a special exhibit about the Muslim Mindanao Culture, and how its art transcends our differences as a nation.

3) Pinto Art Museum

Entrance fee: P200

Picturesque Pinto Art Museum has become famous for its open-air Mediterranean-inspired villas. Aside from paintings, sculptures, and other forms of art, you can also chill on the cozy beds scattered all over the place, or have a bite in the museum’s café. The museum’s design is an attraction on its own, too!

4) The Mind Museum

Entrance fee: P750, all day pass

 

The Mind Museum has over 250 interactive exhibits through five interconnected stories: Atom, Earth, Life, Universe, and Technology. Ideal for kids and kids-at-heart!

5) Metropolitan Museum of Manila

Entrance fee: P100

 

The Metropolitan Museum of Manila is one of the major museums in the Philippines. Inside, you’ll get to see Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ valuable collections of gold and pottery, colonial Hispanic art, and other modern and contemporary works. For International Museum Day, Met Museum has a free guided tours called "Seascapes: Tranquility and Agitation" and "Mapping the Philippine Seas with Dr. Jaime C. Laya." Other exhibitions for the celebration include "Abot-tanaw: Tracing Local Horizons" and "The Philippine Contemporary."
