Partying and girl-on-girl kisses – all in Iloilo!
July 06, 2007 | 04:21PMI’ve compiled a few photos and a short video from my Iloilo night-outs. It’s funny that sometimes the general notion of people upon hearing someone is from the province, the is, “Do these people from down south know how to party like we do here in Manila?”
Had a few personal encounters with people who think that way. I even remember someone asking me if we even have movie theaters here. I didn’t get pissed but I was actually surprised. I just answered politely, “Ah, no, but I go bar hopping every night though!” But the worst encounter was this guy rushing inside the dressing room and saying, “Saan na yung mga girls galing Visayas? Nakakaintindi ba sila nang Tagalog?” ( Where are the girls from the Visayas region? Can they understand Tagalog?) I retorted, “Uhm, we even actually have Filipino classes since kindergarten, you know!”
Anyway, what about a “probinsyana” party? Well, we just don’t party—we bring the house down and party till dawn. Girl-on-girl kisses? No big deal! It’s common here when we “parteh” (BTW, people pronounce it that way when they’re having an awesome party). TRIVIA: The girl I’m with in the photo and video was my date that night. She’s an FHM model, too. She was in the mag last March.
