The 10 Best Zombies of Outbreak Manila!

The first rule of portraying the undead: fucking look like one. Runners didn't actually believe they would encounter zombies coming straight out of The Walking Dead, so imagine everyone's remorse when they stumbled upon this gored-up kid, looking to chase them in broad daylight.We're surprised the runners at the back aren't taking advantage of the fact that this guy's distracted.

Come join the run, they said. It's gonna be a lot of fun, they said. We will finish this run together, they said. Whatever. There were 28 "waves" in all, each comprised of 200 runners. The first wave commenced at daybreak at 5:30am. The last wave clocked in at 12:30am.

Not sure if lady zombies are actually scorching hot or we only think they are because it's scorching hot.

We saw this zombie trying to commit suicide up in a tree. Somebody tell this guy what redundant means.

The whole survival shebang made us sprint a 5-kilometer stretch of open roads, dirty trails, and uphill terrains. At the beginning of the race, each runner has 3 flags that these zombies should try and get. If they finish the race with at least one flag on them they win a cool...shirt.

We have to commend the best of them for making sure the majority of us do not get out of Outbreak Manila without feeling traumatized. Screams were heard from one kilometer to the next, made us trip in stones and mud, and most importantly, proved to us that a zombie apocalypse is no laughing matter. It really, truly pays to be fit and prepared.

No amount of marathon training could have prepared us for what these zombies would make us do, which is run amok with no pace whatsoever. Among the foul creatures seen in Outbreak Manila: corpse brides, undead soldiers, rotting cheerleaders, bloody scissorhands, zombie schoolgirls, and most notably...

...A zombie Michael, who spent more time doing photo ops than chasing down participants. This guy made it to TV Patrol and 24 Oras later that night!

The zombies actually did a very fine job being harmless, but the ironic part here is the runners themselves were responsible for some of the injuries they sustained during the event. Blame it on screams and panic, but it got very physical halfway down the race. Oh well, same thing would have happened if a real-life outbreak takes place.

Alas, our favorite standout among the horde: this eye-popping zombie version of Sailormoon chowing down on decapitated arm! Still we were able to reach the finish line with enough flags to claim that we survived. But what they took from us in return was something much more important: our manhood. Girly screams: we found out we can actually do that.
