WORDS BY MIKEY AGULTO

Just when we thought that today’s novelty songs bear very little or no significance to current events, here comes the Sexbomb Dancers.

The Girl group's catchy new song seems to be working quite well in terms of enlightening the public how to vote. One group even dared say that the song is doing a better job of informing the public than COMELEC itself.

The girls’ latest single “May Bilog na Hugis Itlog” sounds every bit the typical novelty flavor Sexbomb Girls have from the get-go, but the song’s lyrics did us no wrong at all.

Almost a month after the song’s release, the “masa” is already singing it in detail. And very much educated about the instructions, we might say. Here’s a glimpse of the song’s shady yet unconventionally correct lyrics:

May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
May bilog, may bilog na hugis itlog
Ang kailangan sa bilog
ay simpleng-simple lang
Itiman, i-shade loob ng bilog
Hanapin ang bilog sa tapat ng pangalan
ng kandidatong napupusuan
Ang bilog, ang bilog
sa tapat ng pangalan
‘Yan ang dapat nating markahan
Gets mo ba?
Gets ko na!
Gets na gets na talaga!

Admit it or not, teens and adults alike will remember this song come election time. But for those who have no idea how election voting works, how do you vote for a candidate anyway?

A Pulse Asia survey indeed showed that 60% of Filipinos are clueless about how the new automated system works. Fortunately for us, plenty of online demos are available on YouTube, including one from Smartmatic-TIM featured by Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

We have decided to post both videos for your viewing preferences. Maybe you prefer a pack of dancing girls showing you how it’s done, or maybe you want the official demo just to make sure. Whether it’s the Sexbomb Girls or Yahoo, we win either way!
