The Shining by Stephen King
September 2, 2008

(Pocket)
“Honey, I’m home!” just doesn’t sound right after you’ve seen the movie version. The book was written three years before the film, and boy, if it’s not a cerebral fuckfest, we don’t know what is. Telling the tale of a family alone and haunted, The Shining delves deeper into the characters that the movie didn’t accomplish. The result: A couple of sleepless nights and wariness toward dads in general. -Vincent Coscoluella
