7 Things to love about Windows 7

3. Windows 7 is less of a nagger than Vista
Windows 7 still has the same User Account Control (UAC), but this time, is much better implemented. Whereas you could only turn it on or off in Vista, Windows 7 allows for better customization of UAC settings. Likewise, more software developers now support UAC, hence limiting compatibility issues.

4. Aero Peek
If you’re the type to open a gazillion windows at one instance, you’ll love what Aero Peek does. It basically makes it easier for you to manage all your open windows. For instance, you have five applications with multiple windows for each application running, and you want to single out one of them to take center stage. What you do now is hover over the application’s icon on the taskbar, and the available windows for that application pops up. Click now on the window you want to maximize, and presto, you’re in. Amazing how we were able to live without it before.
5. Smart searching
The desktop search experience in previous Windows operating systems was like looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. This isn’t the case anymore with Windows 7. You simply press the Windows key, and you can immediately type and search for whatever it is you’re looking for. And rarely does it fail.
6. Aero Shake
Have you ever found yourself minimizing a ton of windows just to single out the one you need? With Windows 7 that’s not necessary. Just grab the window you need, and give the mouse a nice, hard shake. If you did it right, all the other windows are now minimized. Minimizing windows has never been so much fun!
7. The Windows 7 task bar
Like the search function, the task bar in Windows 7 is a much more capable tool. Other than simply being a placeholder for a bunch of icons, as it has been since Windows 95, Windows 7’s taskbar now allows you to pin application launchers, documents, web pages, and other shortcuts to it without overcrowding the entire bar. The web pages you pin, for instance, will stack upon your main browser’s icon. The web pages will pop up once you hover over the browser’s icon.
