Back In Black: Twisted Metal

Cars and blowing things up. You could definitely do much worse to get our attention.
So what happens when you combine the two together?
You get Twisted Metal, a franchise that has allowed us to live out sick, twisted fantasies of firing missiles at other cars since 1995. Any gamer that’s worth his salt knows exactly why it’s the king of videogame road-rage.
Why it has taken this long for the series to pop its psychotic head on the PS3, we could always blame on the changing tastes of people and the general “growing-up” of games. Twisted Metal is merely destruction derby on steroids; it isn’t high concept nor is it a brand, new idea. That much we all know.
But hell is it still fun. Finally out of the garage—more than a decade after the last major step-up in the series, Twisted Metal: Black was released in 2001 for the PS2—Twisted Metal unleashes vehicular mayhem once again.
Let’s check out what it has in store for us, what’s remained and what has changed.

This dude is still evil
That’s Calypso. The malevolent genius behind the Twisted Metal tournament. His mandate is still the same: Win the contest and you get a wish. Any wish. Would be winners however are advised to make a wish that’s wicked since he’s known to twist noble wishes in sick, ironic ways.
