8 Classic PS Characters We Want in All-Stars Battle Royale
Every time a crossover fighting game is announced, the first question that goes through everyone’s heads is “Who’s in it?” The very point of these games is to give us a digital battleground on which we can settle violent arguments on how Character A’s fireball has no chance against Character B’s laser vision. Or something.
Super Smash Bros. did it for Nintendo. Marvel Vs. Capcom did it for themselves. And Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, which will be released in October for the PS3 and the Vita, intends to do it for Sony. The title alone is so intensely grand that our thumbs twitch at the mere mention of it.
Here’s how the sign-up sheet is shaping up so far: Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, Heihachi Mishima from Tekken, Nathan Drake of Uncharted fame, platformer mascots Sly Cooper, and Jak and Daxter, the insatiable Fat Princess, Big Daddy from Bioshock, Kratos from God of War, Cole Mcgrath from Infamous, Colonel Radec from Killzone, and a pair of cutesy combatants in Parappa the Rapper and Toro Inoue.
Also, if this Internet leak reported by gamespot.com is to be believed, you can look forward to playing as Devil May Cry’s Dante, Spike from Ape Escape, Raiden from Metal Gear, and Nariko from Heavenly Sword.
That’s quite a list, but it’s missing something. Namely: old-school Playstation favorites. Colonel Radec’s rad and all, but wouldn’t you want a few more characters that hail from the Playstation’s golden Neanderthal past? We wonder how a game called “Playstation All Stars Battle Royale”—a game that in part is supposed to pay tribute to the brand’s history—will be able to live with itself without including, say, Crash Bandicoot?
From asking who’s in it, we now proceed to (unreasonably) demanding who we want in it. These are our top seven!

Crash Bandicoot
Way before the thieving Sly Cooper snuck his way into the scene, Crash Bandicoot was the unquestioned alpha-dog of the original Playstation’s platformers. An appearance should give him the chance to bash Sly and Jak and Daxter’s heads together, and reclaim the throne that once was his with a resounding howl.
