11-11-11. It’s a notation that happens only once in a thousand years. So it is only fitting a most-awaited game of this generation will launch on such a momentous date. Elder Scrolls V: Skyim, the newest game in a series that’s known to suck your time and soul like a massive vortex, is about to make its grand landing on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC.
If you like games as much as we do, then you should have an idea how the gaming world’s heart beats like a frenzied carpenter's high on four cups of coffee and a bottle of an energy drink at a mere mention of the game. We're roughly a couple days aways before we find out if it’s indeed “game of the year” material that it's been hyped up to be since the release of its first trailer.
Swords, sorcery, magic, and vengeful skeletons back from the dead. We have seen it all before, yes, and it’s essentially, what the Elders Scrolls series is. It throws you into a world of medieval wonders, both fantastic and grotesque, and lets you take on the role that you want to play.
You want to loot houses? The welcome rug beckons you in. You want to be the most notorious assassin in all of the land? Go sign up at some dark brotherhood cult. You want to steal some horses? Do it quick, before the guards come!
You want to be that totally pure, untainted hero of the people and get on with the main quests and just save the land? It’s not as fun as fooling around, but yes, you can do that too. It was Grand Theft Auto before there was a Grand Theft Auto, complete with everything we expect from an RPG—loot to collect, skills to learn, quests to complete, and dungeons to raid.
Expect Skyrim to do all those, on a scale that’s simply—and we’ve grown tired of using the word—more epic than what we’ve seen before from the series. Below are a couple of its features that has us itching to play the game now.
