This week saw the release of Assassin’s Creed II for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and so far, it’s been a hit.

Navigating the streets of 15th century Renaissance-era Italy, scaling the rooftops, and hunting down your target has never been done, we daresay, as beautifully as this.

The game’s protagonist, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, is a fine assassin, and with his cool white garb, and Medieval hoodie, he’s quite the cool cat too, or rather a cool and deadly tiger stalking his prey.

As a tribute, here’s our list of our five favorite characters in gaming who made a living killing people so efficiently.

5. Altair (Assassin’s Creed, 2007)
In actuality, the true protagonist of the Assassin Creed games is a harmless bartender named Desmond Miles. He was kidnapped by some crazy company to test a device that taps into his brain, and simulate the memories of his ancestors.

It just so happened that Desmond Miles’ ancestry includes badass assassins like Altair, and the aforementioned Ezio Auditore da Firenze (don’t ask us about its pronunciation).

Sam Fisher should be in this list!!!!!! because he is the most realistic stealth character of all and to top it all of he's the oldest of them, imagine a man on his late 50's climbing on a ledge and at the same time being stealthy at the same time, he can even shoot 5 people simultaneously (see Splinter cell: Conviction for refference)
