INTERVIEWS: ALEX C. PAITA, KHYNE L. PALUMAR, CHARMAINE Z. CHANCO, MARC LAURENZE CELIS

Everything that mattered in 08, and what will in 09, declared and debated on by FHM’s panel of vitriolic experts!

Ah, 2008—what a year it was! But for all its worth, what was last year all about for you?
SAM YG: China cellphones invading all corners of Recto, the rise of funky Pinoy fashion—from Philippine flag on our jackets to the Philippine map on shirts, to loud-colored jeans—and well, of course, Manny Pacquiao’s winning streak.
MARC ABAYA: Yes, definitely Manny Pacquiao winning against Oscar De La Hoya. And Rico Blanco’s return to the music scene. And of course, the Eraserheads reunion concert.
ERWIN ROMULO: I think the Eraserheads concert was definitely the most significant pop culture moment across the board. Para sa akin yun na yun. No foreign artist who came here had a concert that had that much pull on people. And that was their best performance I’ve ever seen. They were never that good live, they’re just better musicians now. When it was cut short, that kind of added to the drama of it pa nga, those 15 songs were already enough.
LUIS KATIGBAK JR.: And how many people were there? It brought so many people together, they cut across social classes, nothing else was as universal siguro.
