The music scene and its scenesters seemed deadbeat in 2008. So apart from the Eheads reunion, what are its highs?
ERWIN: I liked Markus Highway. Who would have ever thought he’d be able to write those really nice surf songs. Alam niyo beach people, tang ina, pahingahin niyo na yung Bob Marley shit, you’re not Rastafarians, you will never be Bob Marley. Just listen to Markus Highway. It’s got everything. This Elvis-type music, it’s got wit, it’s got reggae and ska, it even quotes one Bob Marley song sa jamming, but he just slides it in somewhere. It’s a really witty, clever album, and especially if you see him live.
LUIS: To be honest I kind of wrote him off, then I heard he had a good album, I listened to it, and it’s great. That’s the big comeback of the year.
ERWIN: For new acts I like Intolerant and Loss of Control, which is metal. What’s nice is they don’t have influences, they just really like metal. Intolerance and Loss of Control they just like metal and they’re fucking metal, that’s it.
