ERWIN: Somebody told Luis that Beng Calma of Drip sings like she’s performing fellatio. But Up Dharma, for the sole reason that it was the only thing that mattered apart from the Eraserheads reunion. Zach Lucero has a solo album, but he chose to delay it from coming out. He pointed out that 2008 is gone for local albums and new acts because of the Eraserheads. But Up Dharma Down stood their ground, they’re the only band I can really think that really made an impact apart from the Eraserheads. They’re unique. And for some people their songs really mattered, the same way the Eraserheads mattered. It may not cut across barriers the same way, but it cuts deep.
LUIS: The Itchyworms launched a really good album, which I feel was almost unjustly overlooked. It’s almost like, okay, we already know they’re excellent, and they released another excellent album, so parang in that sense it was patted down.
SAM: My top five artists for 2008: Rico Blanco, Bamboo Sitti, Chicosci and Sandwich. My worst: Cueshe and the Tagalized songs that brought a whole new low to novelty songs.
QUARK: You mean that stupid fucking local version of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” by Miss Ganda! Have you seen Miss Ganda?! I'm not a lookist, but if you call yourself Miss Ganda then you're really asking for it.
