Beijing Olympics
SAM: China proved so much how rich and powerful they are, how superpower they are and that will be a very difficult. I think no other country can top that celebration in Olympic history. On our part naman, although kawawa tayo it just proved how much these athletes are in need of more funding and support, not just financially but also physically, emotionally, and mentally. Hindi tama yung pag nanalo dun mo lang bibigyan, dapat we’re doing our turn to rear them to the best.

The best reads...
MARC: I did read Ricky Lee’s book, Para Kay B (O Kung Paano Dinevastate ng Pag-Ibig ang 4 out of 5 sa Atin).
SAM: The only local one I read last year was RJ Ledesma’s Lies My Yaya Should Have Told Me.
ERWIN: Soledad Sister by Butch Dalisay finally came out last year. It’s well written. It’s not a fashionable novel to say the least, but it’s well written. You should also get Lourd De Veyra’s upcoming novel, Supersounds Panalo. Normal Wilwayco’s new one, Guerilla. With Wilwayco it’s rock’n’ roll literature talaga. Punk rock kung punk rock.
LUIS: For comic fans, Tres is a good entertaining teen horror comic by Budget Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. It’s pop horror. Nancy Drew cropped with X-Files. I don’t know if they took it out, but before you can actually read the whole thing online. It’s not world changing or anything, but it’s good stuff. I’m happy every time Arnold Arre comes out with a new graphic novel, and it was one of those years with Martial Law Babies. With him it’s always a major work, it doesn’t come out in treacles. He’s probably the pre-eminent comics writer or artist in the Philippines.
ERWIN: He always makes a big effort, and he’s not very prolific in the sense that he comes out with something every month, parang iniipon niya. And again it pleads on nostalgia for the Martial Law-babies generation. There are references to the political situation, the children shows at the time, like Uncle Bob’s Lucky Seven Club.
QUARK: Arnold Arre is a national treasure and he doesn't even know it.
