Cherry Darling in Planet Terror
Played by: Rose McGowan
An experimental bio-weapon gets in the wrong hands, turning people into crazed zombies with a taste for human flesh. A group of survivors must live through the undead’s onslaught and stop the proprietor’s of the infection. Rose McGowan’s character Cherry Darling in Robert Rodriguez’s grind house film scores points for being a go-go dancer (See: fancy term for stripper).
She scores even higher points when after her leg is torn off during a zombie attack, she allows her ex-boyfriend to attach a machine gun to where her limb used to be. Her new firearm (or should we say fire-leg?), coupled with her “professional” dance moves is a mind-blowing take on your average femme fatale.
The Sister in Machete
Played by: Lindsay Lohan
Director Robert Rodriguez definitely likes lassies that shoot to kill. Machete, another of his campy action movies, saw a bevy of gorgeous gals like Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez blasting through evil henchmen. But the scene-stealer was Lindsay Lohan’s turn as an angry daughter, dressed in a sexed-up nun’s habit, that puts a bullet through the film's main antagonist. Though the role was not enough to save Lohan’s languishing career, it is an image engraved into every young action fan’s wet dreams.
Maggie Hayward in The Assassin
Played by: Bridget Fonda
In this American remake of Luc Besson’s French film Le Femme Nikita, Bridget Fonda plays Maggie, a crack addict sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer. The government takes interest in her potential, so they fake her death and mold her into an elite assassin. Her training regimen consists of proper lady etiquette and how to snap neck bones in your favorite little black dress.
Lara Croft in Tomb Raider
Played by: Angelina Jolie
When Tomb Raider, the action adventure videogame starring a rich and sultry archeologist with big breasts and tight shorts named Lara Croft, invaded households, it wasn’t long before a movie was in the works. And who better to play the double-pistol armed socialite than Hollywood golden girl Angelina Jolie? Geeks, nerds and all of mankind could finally wank, erm, we mean thank the actress for giving the character a non-animated face.
The Lady in The Quick and the Dead
Played by: Sharon Stone
Hell has no fury like a woman scorn. Vengeance is always a good catalyst for some action and nothing spells guns like an all American Western. And in director Sam Raimi’s revenge western, Sharon Stone plays “The Lady”, a quick-draw cowgirl that rides into the aptly-named town called Redemption, to face-off in a dueling competition with her father’s ruthless murderer. Now if only we could be Ms. Stone’s horse.
Mallory in Natural Born Killers
Played by: Juliette Lewis
In Oliver Stone’s dark crime comedy, demented lovers Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory Knox go on a killing spree across America. Both traumatized in their childhood, they exact sadistic crimes on those that get in their way. The film was infamous for its violent imagery and whacked portrayal of America’s media-obsessed culture.
Mallory gets off on their vicious acts just as much as her husband and is the quintessential bad girl. Trust us, you wouldn’t want to rub her the wrong way.
Alice in Resident Evil
Played by: Milla Jovovich
Supermodel Milla Jovovich has no mercy for the undead. In the film franchise made popular by the videogame of the same title, the Umbrella corporation is responsible for leaking a toxic T-virus that brings the dead back to life. That wouldn’t be so bad; except they’re violent motherfuckers that want to eat your brain for dinner. Enter Alice, a jaded Umbrella security officer who finds herself stuck in a fight for survival. Alice’s knowledge in combat and gun fare are enough to keep her alive and kicking for three sequels after the original.
Domino Harvey in Domino
Played by: Keira Knightley
Based on the true story of Ford model Domino Harvey, who set her fashion career aside to pursue being a bounty hunter… because you know its every girl’s dream to be a bounty hunter. Keira Knightley’s waif-like beauty and tough exterior was a perfect match for the role. Helmed by master action director Tony Scott, Domino is a high-octane biopic about a girl who doesn’t do things half-assed.
Madison Lee in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
Played by: Demi Moore
Aside from being the most bangable cougar in Hollywood, playing pillow-buddy to Ashton Kutcher, and looking better than most twenty-year-olds in a bikini, Demi Moore makes one scorching evil bitch. In the sequel of the Charlie’s Angels movie, she plays Madison Lee, a not-so-washed-up ex-Angel who wants nothing more than to clip the wings of Bosley and his trio of pesky spies. Moore’s sexy comeback after a long Hollywood hiatus was enough to get the attention of Ashton Kutcher and audiences the world over. Now that’ what we call one hot mama!
Trinity in The Matrix
Played by: Carrie-Ann Moss
The Wachowski brothers’ sci-fi/philosophical take on reality and the controllers behind it was a critical and commercial success. When a hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves) is invited by a group of rebels to see the truth behind the real world, he learns that everything is just a simulation and human beings are practically just batteries. He learns this through Trinity, a virtual vixen, who turns out to be one of the rebel faction’s fighters. Aside from being an expert with firearms, she has a mean crane kick… in slow motion to boot.
