5. Magnifico (2003)
Director: Maryo J. De los Reyes
Stars: Jiro Manio, Lorna Tolentino

Not all melodramas are bad, especially if you’ve got an endearing character for a lead. Admit it, you shed a tear as you watched this. Or at the least you played the “napuwing lang ako” card

6. Ploning (2008)
Director: Dante Nico Garcia

Stars: Judy Ann Santos, Gina Pareño                                                                                                  Its cinematography makes you want to pay a visit to Cuyo, Palawan. With some more prodding, you might just be compelled to live there. But it’s also driven by a well-written story and compelling acting.

7. Spider Man 2 (2004)
Director: Sam Raimi
Stars: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst
What makes Spider Man very popular is the charm of the character and how his issues relate to ours, describes creator Stan Lee. And no movie ever depicted how human Spidey is better than this. Maybe Kirsten Dunst in her prime has that effect.

8. Lord of the Rings: Two Towers (2002)
Director: Peter Jackson
Stars: Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett

Return of the King has the Oscar Best Picture award, but it was a sympathy vote. The whole trilogy’s a classic for the ages, and undoubtedly the best out of the three is the middle child.
