Inglourious Basterds

From a Jewish cinema owner, to Nazi heroes, Hitler, and the Basterds themselves, the characters all have that terrific Tarantino flavor to them: crazy, unsettled, yet still very human. Seeing all these different characters cross paths is a huge part of the fun.

Over the film’s run, any wise viewer will agree that underneath the flash and violence, Inglourious Basterds is deftly sophisticated in making us realize that given the right conditions, we will all operate on the same instinctual level, like the inglourious bastards that we all are. Likewise, although the movie is set in World War II, Tarantino’s out-of-the-box style makes the film feel like a different universe altogether; where we can be vaguely amused at Hitler like he were a clown.

Big, bold, and theatrical, Inglourious Basterds reminds us once again why we love Quentin Tarantino. Once again, he mixes thrills, laughs, and all out violence in a way few other directors can.
