Going the Distance is yet another chick flick you might not hear the end of from your wives or the girlfriends. It depicts the troubles of maintaining a long-distance relationship, going through the disturbances of expensive but short visits, and the better lack of intimacy, among others.

The film star real-life couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long as Erin and Garrett, fighting to go the distance to meet halfway in a relationship stemming from New York City to San Francisco, California.

They fly back and forth, in between jobs and friends, simply to try to make their relationship work. But much like most cases, distance is slowly tearing them apart.



Distance also stars Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live) and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), who, together with Justin Long pull off an amazing improv about the wonders of mustache, baby pigeons, and dry humping.

“I would say about 50 per cent of the movie was improvised,” says Justin Long on an interview promoting the movie. “The best time to do improv is when you don’t have to do it, when it’s not out of necessity to make the scene decent.”

So decent is Going the Distance that we’re starting to think this rom-com genre can be dude-friendly. We commend movies with a plot of a romantic comedy justified with a humor of a regular dude, much like the following five:
