9. Noontime Show
Itchyworms 2006, Universal Records
This is a perfectly executed concept album, we dare say. Everything about Noontime Show organically and magically bleeds into each other. The touch-up to our culture—noontime shows, love teams, and beer—seems secondary. Music still comes first here. That songs off this record were used in ads only validates the record’s impact on everybody.
10. Parachutes
Coldplay 2000, EMI
“Yellow,” “Shiver,” “Sparks” are just some songs to have come from Coldplay’s debut record but, boy, do they make you quiver! They’re anthems to your most intimate experiences; bookmarks to your life episodes. Chris Martin sounds like a whining baby, but no matter: Parachutes is a winner and to be a complete a-hole, the record that keeps the band from losing their cred.
