Sony-BMGAnd everybody thought Christina Aguilera was the self-proclaimed dirty, too-talented-for-her-own-good one. But here she is with Back to Basics, her first album in four years, displaying a kind of growth and maturity other than what Britney is showing the world. While the double disc contains throwback tributes to old school influences (“Back in the Day”), it also has “me” inserts like “Still Dirry” “F.U.S.S.” as well as love songs for her hubby dear (“Without You”) and a tribute to the fans (“Thank You”). Back to Basics may seem a bit too long for a pop record. You’ll be surprised to find out that the attention-getter “Slow Down Baby” is just the sixth track of disc one. There’s a lot of music to digest here, we’re just not sure if you want it coming from a pop princess.
