WORDS BY MIKEY AGULTO

Chances are if you see her self-titled album displayed in a record store, you would identify her as a sexy star trying to have a career as a singer.

Fortunately, with a name as ambiguous as Lora Love popping on the CD cover, it’s likely that you would at least check her out. And that’s where the difference will hit you.

Composed of eight tracks and packed with bonus instrumentals, this is one of those times where you should do before you think. Because admittedly, it's rather too easy to wave her off as another one of those RnB wannabe's. But give her a chance and at the very, very, very least, you have hot and exclusive Lora Love photos to ogle at.

Lora Love’s heavy and sophisticated voice fits most of the tracks perfectly, most prominently in soulful songs like “I Wish I Wasn’t” and “Heaven Sent.”

None of her songs are overdone, and her vocal range remains intact for the duration of the album. Lora Love’s diva-ish presence in her album cover did wonders as well, hinting us of the musical environment we are about to go into.

Possessing a big voice though not necessarily limiting, tracks like “Nang Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig” and “Mahal na Mahal Kita” expose herself a bit deeper than her other tracks primarily because it’s in Filipino.

The album enthralls with its variety as well, even the revivals hit the spot. “Just Once”,†freshly re-done with ease and slightly infused with a bit of soul, was sang to surprising perfection. The song †“I Should’ve Cheated”, meanwhile, is definitely worth the intrigue, serving as Lora Love’s most candid track.

Lora Love the album represents Lora Love the singer very well—sexy, soulful, and experienced.†
