In a system too enamored with long bombs, Head seems the only viable option. There's just not enough weapons, not enough defense, and not enough toughness in this squad to compete against the big guns of the division. But then again, a sub-0.500 team can still make the cut in the East so a glimmer of hope remains.
Milwaukee Bucks
Coach: Scott Skiles
Projected Starting Five
PG: Luke Ridnour
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
PF: Kurt Thomas
C: Angrew Bogut
Key Additions: Hakim Warrick, Kurt Thomas, Carlos Delfino, Ersan Ilyasova, Roko Ukic, Brandon Jennings (rookie)
Key Losses: Richard Jefferson, Charlie Villanueva, Ramon Sessions
How does a team avoid a sixth straight occupancy of the Central Division cellar? Not by letting two top scorers in the past season scram. The Bucks are anchoring their hope on Redd, who's fully recovered from the MCL/ACL surgery he's had the past two years, and Bogut, who's also an injury-magnet. With a performing Bogut early in the season last year, the Bucks proved they could roll with boys and contend. When Bogut and Redd got shelved, everything went south for them. And nothing much has changed or improved.
With a coach like Skiles, a stickler for defense, the only bright spot is the solid center rotation (Bogut, Thomas, and Dan Gadzuric). On point, Ridnour can't guard a chard and Jennings is too raw. And the biggest question mark is the scoring and D from the wing, with Warrick and Mbah a Moute both inconsistent. The chances are real slim they can improve on their performance last season. Please welcome your Central Division bottom feeder for the sixth straight year.
