GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Coach: Don Nelson
Projected Starting Five:
PG: Monta Ellis
SG: Anthony Morrow
SF: Stephen Jackson
PF: Anthony Randolph
C: Andris Biedrins
Key Additions: Stephen Curry (R), Devean George, Acie Law, Speedy Claxton, Mikki Moore
Key Losses: Jamal Crawford, Marco Belinelli, Mermareo Davidson
Golden State Warriors' coach, Don Nelson, has an enigmatic and "mad genius" approach to how he shuffles his team's roster night in and night out. Now that Monta Ellis has fully recovered from last season's low-speed moped freak accident, he should be ready to lead the Warriors through many hard-fought battles this season.
There was initial tension in the Warriors' camp when news came out that Ellis claimed to have a problem playing alongside rookie Stephen Curry. Anthony Morrow, who had a strong showing in the Las Vegas Summer League, is penciled in to start with Ellis in the back court.
Power forward Anthony Randolph is a player to watch. He showed flashes of brilliance and athleticism towards the end of last season. He continued to play well in Las Vegas and in the pre-season. Former team captain, Stephen Jackson, requested to be traded away late in the off-season, but has since reconsidered the move. We will have to wait and see how that issue pans out as the season progresses.
LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Coach: Mike Dunleavy Sr.
Projected Starting Five:
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Eric Gordon
SF: Al Thornton
PF: Marcus Cambu
C: Chris Kaman
Key Additions: Blake Griffin (R), Rasual Butler, Sebastian Telfair, Craig Smith
Key Losses: Zach Randolph, Mike Taylor
The Los Angeles Clippers were plagued by multiple injuries last season. The "injury bug" nailed Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, Ricky Davis and Baron Davis and all of them missed a considerable number of games.
