THE BEST CONFERENCE PLAYER AND BEST IMPORT NEED MORE SUPPORT
Arwind Santos and Joseph Yeo both played well during Game 2, scoring 20 a piece to go with Washington’s 20 and Freeman’s 13.

Their 3-pointers late in the game proved to be significant. If only the Beermen could get decent games out of guards Dondon Hontiveros (1 point, 0-4 FGA) and Alex Cabagnot (5 points, 2-5 FGA), SMB could justify their star-studded status.
CAPITALIZE ON DIAMON SIMPSON’S VALUE
Alaska has been capitalizing on Simpson’s ability to attract tighter defense, giving more open looks to backcourt scorers LA Tenorio (6 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and Cyrus Baguio (12 points, 3 assists, 2 steals) and making them look better.
Still, Simpson always finds his spot near the basket for the easy put-in, though Game 3 really belonged to his import rival, Gabe Freeman.
THE ACES SHOULD NOTE THE BEERMEN’S TRACK RECORD
The Alaska squad is currently winning, but Coach Tim Cone is nowhere near a celebration. For a good reason: San Miguel, champions of the last Fiesta Conference, bounced back from 0-1, 1-2 and 2-3 deficits against Alaska before pulling off two straight wins to take home the conference title.
And as evidenced by last night's comeback win by SMB, it might just happen again.
ALASKA MUST CONTINUE TO MAKE USE OF THEIR FREE THROW ADVANTAGE
Game 2 ended in a close-gapped situation, with Alaska making the final seven points coming from the free throw line.
The Aces are the league’s best at taking advantage of the charity lines, which should pose as a problem for the opposing team. The team nailing those 15 footers makes the difference, edging out SMB by only 6 points in Game 1 and 4 points in Game 2.
