Game of Thrones Season 2: Blood and Backstabbing Continues

Stannis Baratheon
You’ve only heard his name muttered within the walls of King’s Landing, but finally, a face to the name. He is the brother of Robert Baratheon and the true heir to the Iron Throne. (Joffrey, as you may already know, is a product of the incestuous relationship of Cersei and Jaime Lannister.) He remains in Dragonstone, building an army and taking on a new God and faith that may or may not earn him his crown.

Renly Baratheon
He is the youngest of the Baratheon brothers. This effeminate wannabe-king has forged an allegiance with House Tyrell of Highgarden to bring up his chances at the throne. Aside from having an illicit affair with the golden-curled knight Sir Loras, his legion of nights are called the Rainbowguard, and he fancies getting all dolled up. Let’s just say he’s more queenly than kingly.

Melisandre
Where do we start with this redheaded, red-eyed, red-clothed priestess? Prophet of the Lord of Light, R’hollor; right-hand woman and seductress of King Stannis Baratheon; a mystical and manipulative sorceress whose mysterious influence and grasp on the people of Dragonstone and their leader may just birth a malevolent and relentless evil.

Davos Seaworth
Also called The Onion Knight, the loyal and trustworthy Davos Seaworth is a man with a conscience. Despite having his fingers chopped off by Stannis for being a smuggler (he wears them as a necklace around his neck), he stays true to House Baratheon, never faltering when it comes to what is right and what is just.

Theon Greyjoy
Theon is already a familiar face to season one fans since he was the ward (or hostage depending on how you perceive things) of Ned Stark. Spending most of his life in Winterfell, he craves for the entitlement stripped from him by his association with the Starks. Expect Theon to chase more tail, maybe piss you off here and there, and yeah, return to his roots.

Gendry
The Queen Regent, Cersei and her obnoxious son, King Joffrey, can’t get a good night’s sleep in their satin sheets knowing that this blacksmith bastard son of King Robert is running amok. Unaware of his importance and the royal blood that runs through his veins, Gendry journeys to The Wall with little Arya, to take the black, and be part of the Night’s Watch.

Brienne
This warrior woman was dubbed “Brienne the Beauty” as a mockery of her lack of grace and physical appeal. She is part of Renly’s Rainbowguard and has an undeniable attraction to the most flamboyant of the Baratheons. This statuesque and awkward individual makes up for her flaws with indubitable loyalty and her skills with a sword.

Shae
Not to be underestimated, Tyrion Lannister’s current infatuation is not your average brothel wench. She is quick, perceptive, and has a knack for making the little imp weak at the knees–a quality that almost always works in her favor. Hidden by Tyrion from the sights of his tyrannous father, Tywin, she longs for greater and more decadent things. But as we know, in the Seven Kingdoms, a whore can only get so far.
