5 Possibly Awful American Idol Judges
With Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez turning in their resignation letters to the world’s most popular talent show, American Idol, seats were left vacant on the judging panel. Tyler and Lopez departed earlier this month, two seasons after they were cast.
With them out, and with supposedly flagging ratings, the show needed a big name to get things rocking. So they did the logical thing and hired the services of another former pop superstar in Mariah Carey. Didn’t take long, did it? The Grammy-winning artist could have held a note longer than it took Fox, the show’s network, to get a replacement. For her services, she will reportedly be getting a cool 18 million dollars.
Now you’re asking, who cares? Ever since hate-dishing supremo, Simon Cowell, took his bag of cruel japes somewhere else, we really haven’t been paying that much attention. In fact, it was only when we found out that a half-Filipina sensation was making her march to the finals did we tune in last season.
But that’s another story. We’re talking about judges here. And with one seat still open in the panel, we hastily thought of who’s out there, and how they might fare as a judge. Which, among other things, proves why we aren’t a network executive today.

Why she might be an awful judge: She has always been one to preach individuality of the far-out kind. This disposition leaves an opening for the assorted, crazy nuts in the preliminary auditions to make it to Hollywood. Fellow judges will be powerless to stop her out of fear that she might swallow them up. Hey, come to think of it, that would be great for the ratings, wouldn’t it? Maybe she ain’t a bad choice after all.
