“We’re the clowns,” says Ernesto. And indeed, this married couple from the Philippines is best described as fun and boisterous. It may be hard to believe that Ernie and Jeena (as they prefer to be called) have been married for ten years, looking at how the jokes and banter fly fast and furious between them. Beneath the good natured ribbing, a genuinely strong relationship is evident from the way they look upon each other with great fondness.

The couple met because Jeena’s sister is married to Ernie’s first cousin. They only became close when Ernie started rock climbing with her best friend. They both found in each other, a fanatical love of sports and from there the relationship grew. They support each other’s sporting efforts, helping out with training and between them, their mutual love of adventure has brought them to try hiking, rock climbing, technical diving, bungee jumping and even skydiving. “Our relationship is an adventure!” Ernie gushes and Jeena wholeheartedly agrees. Nowadays though, it is their three children who give them all the excitement they need. Until the Amazing Race Asia came along.
