The one obvious thing the new morphing of the Altis has that the old one turned out to have been sorely lacking is character. Its front fascia carries on the rounded sensuality of the Camry and Vios, not too tight-lipped but not gaping either. Overall it’s also lower and wider. Why are these superficial changes important? Think of it this way: the first time you met the Altis in 2001, you memorized the face; a year or so later you met him again on the street and you could barely make him out in the crowd. Though a multitude of buyers is certainly not Toyota’s fault, this time around future owners of the new Altis will not be ignored in the long stretch.
