Five years is just too loaded a time span. A lot can happen, a lot do happen in five years. Take for instance that cult hit from Sugar Hiccup aptly titled “Five Years.” What do you think happened to Sugar Hiccup’s Melody Del Mundo that made her write that seven-worded hit? A lot, we suppose, top of the list would be heart break. “And he will never be back,” she cries in what—despair? Melancholy? Anger? Desperation? Relief?

Whatever it is, though, it’s not the same cry for FHM, thank heavens. Just when you think five years should’ve faded anybody’s appeal into oblivion, here comes Yda Manzano back, hotter than ever.   Her smoldering gaze, the allure of her supple breasts. They’re still in our heads for all these years.

She doesn’t disappoint. In fact, Yda’s return is rather thrilling. Those five years have given her a certain sense of maturity, a feeling that she now knows her place in the world. A lot of things have changed for Yda. But what she has retained is her innate capacity to draw us in and make us want more.

So let her entertain you. And let her tease you. Those five years may just have left her wanting more, the way certainly did us.

It’s been forever since you’ve posed for FHM.What was the first thing that came to your mind when we called?
Actually kinuha din ako sa kabila kaso naisip ko mas comfortable talaga ako sa FHM. They wouldn’t believe that it’s me sa pictorials ko. They asked for a lot of requirements pa. Nung tumawag kayo sa akin, sinabi ko na miss ko na yung pictorials with FHM. It’s just about time. I didn’t have any second thoughts about it.

It may have been five years, but you still have that confidence. What motivates you to continue taking sexy roles?
I started as a sexy star, and even if I’m into singing now, ganun pa rin. May touch of sexiness sa katawan ko. Hindi ko talaga sya matatanggal sa sarili ko. I tried going wholesome pero walang nangyari. Hindi naging effective sa akin. I mean yung sex appeal ko, effective sa sexy roles.

Do you think your big boobs contribute to your sex appeal?
Well kapag sexy talaga, maganda rin na may boobs—whether malaki or maliit. Pero ‘wag masyado maliit basta meron. Kung wala naman, superflat, parang bakla di ba?

People are calling you Hot Mama Yda these days, do you appreciate it?
Yeah, yun na ang tawag nila sa akin. I appreciate it because I’ve become one of the role models for those moms.

What’s new with Yda?
I’m into singing and nagiging hobby ko yun. Pumupunta sa gym to make myself fit. Kung makikita mo yung katawan ko ngayon, mas may abs ako—mas firm. And yung outlook ko sa buhay, positive na. I’m happy.

Why, what was your outlook before?
I had lots of problems back when I posed for FHM the first time. I’m very much okay now. I feel good in the sense that I’m fit. Positive na yung outlook ko sa buhay and then yung lovelife ko ok na. The same with my family.

Where do you do your shows nowadays?
A lot of them are in the provinces, but I also do hotels. And I also had a show with DJ Alvaro, months ago at the Hobbit House. Medyo marami rin akong show sa bars. I also did shows in Paranaque and Malate.

Your schedule looks packed. Do you just tell yourself that this is just like going out to avoid thinking its work?
You see, I love to sing and dance. I also design my clothes, my outfits—I have my own style. I get to do everything. I’m into fashion and entertainment talaga. I’m so happy doing it.

You said that you style yourself. What kind of lingerie styles do you prefer?
I usually wear a two-piece. A sexy top, risque bra, and super pekpek shorts or super miniskirt.

What’s your usual routine when going onstage? What’s your favorite gag?
I dance sexy. And I crack jokes, lots of jokes. But I’m more on body movement. I laugh a lot and I become naughty. I smile and joke around. I basically tease the participants.

What do you usually sing? And what drives the crowd wild?
I sing a variety of songs. But when I start to dance, hiyawan na sila! Malambot kasi ang katawan ko ever since. I used to dance Tahitian when I was young. Kaya na-a-apply ko sa lahat—facial expressions, projections at body movement.

Have you ever experienced the crowd going far too wild?
I know how to handle naughty audiences. For example, may ginawa sila na hindi ko nagustuhan, I scold them in a nice way. Sasabihan ko sa kanila na, “Oops, wag ganyan” or “Medyo sumobra tayo ah!” Medyo naughty, pero patawa pa rin.

How about embarrassing moments?
Maraming embarrassing moments, pero hindi halata. Kasi I crack jokes, parang tinatawanan ko yung incident na mga ganyan. Natatawa na rin yung tao so they don’t notice kung naiinsulto na ba ako or whatever. The most important thing is that I’m happy with what I’m doing—kasi they are entertained. They’re laughing, kantyawan sila, hiyawan, nakakatuwa talaga.

Are you comfortable wearing stringed underwear on a normal day?
Yeah, string talaga sinusuot ko, hindi ako nagpapanty. Minsan nga if I wear jogging pants, I don’t wear panties at all. I feel real comfortable.

Really? What makes going bare comfortable?
Well, mas masarap kasi yung feeling. Before when I started showbiz, hirap na hirap ako mag g-string, I was so conservative. Pero it changed nung na-try ko yung mag g-string, lalo na yung ma-try ko yung hindi mag-panty. Kasi kung sa bahay ako, hindi na talaga ako nagsusuot ng undies, Ang sarap ng walang suot, kung pwedeng manipis ang suot, yun na lang talaga. Even when I sleep, I’m sometimes in the nude.

The concept for the shoot was “strip tease.” You seem to know what you were doing. Have you done that before?
Yung dating manager ko, tinuruan nya ako kung pano magsayaw sa mga club before. I did guestings sa mga big nights ng mga clubs. Tinuruan nya ako kung paano magsayaw, yung skimpy. That was way, way before pa. But yeah, I’m really good at teasing. And magaling ako sumayaw. Hindi lang ako marunong mag-split pero sobrang galing kong mag-emote, yung facial expressions ko, together with my body movements. Kaya pag nag-sho-show ako, nagtitilian yung mga tao. Hindi ko alam kung bakit, pero it just naturally comes out.

What’s the sexiest song for you? And when doing the deed, do you like having back ground music?
Falling Into You by Celine Dion. There’s this one rin, Crazy by Patsy Cline. Pero depends sa mood. At times gusto kong may music, pero sometimes gusto ko yung sounds lang namin.

Guys think you’re very experienced, but do you still have fantasies that you still want fulfilled?
Adventurous akong tao, very unpredictable. Magugulat na lang yung guy kung bakit ganyan yung gusto ko.
