Smoldering. Searing. Scorching.
No we’re not talking about Joyce Quizon just yet. We’re merely trying to put into words the kind of summer heat we had to go through during the shoot. Most of us were cussing violently, as thought that would scare away the sun.
It didn’t help when Joyce Quizon—she, being a far relative of the Dolphy clan—came out of the makeup room, and propped herself ready to do the shoot. Boy, did she have a way of making things hotter. But it was the good kind of hot, mind you.
As the sun glistened through the windows of this Pampanga house, where we were doing the shoot, Joyce shone, her milky, smooth skin shimmering in the blinding light. Her pretty face, a mixture of Caucasian and Asian qualities, stole our attention away from the heat. And all was good. We still perspired, but it might be for another reason altogether.
Joyce, being human herself (lest you forget that she’s not literally a goddess) perspired a little, too. So the photographer calls for a little retouch, and goes back inside the other room. “Damn you sun, you beat us again.”
The cussing resumed.
We drove a long way from Manila to do this shoot in Pampanga, so we can only hope that you had as much fun as us doing this.
Yeah, it was a whole lot of fun. Medyo nakakaloka rin, kasi medyo yung ibang pose medyo challenging, especially that part of the shoot where I was lying on the couch, and my feet were hanging over the edge. I just hope the photos turn out well. It was my first time to shoot on a couch, and kala mo madali, pero mahirap din pala.
Sa simula ‘nung shoot, medyo tense din ako. Kinabahan din ako kasi feel ko hindi ko agad magawa ‘yung pose na pinapagawa sa akin. Slowly at thankfully, naging mas comfortable naman na ako.
Do you think this has been a good learning experience for you?
Definitely. This is my third time to do a sexy shoot. Now, mas confident na din naman ako, and mas hindi na nahihiya, unlike ‘nung mga previous shoots ko. Of course, I feel I still have a lot of room for growth.
Looking back at the shoot, you did seem confident enough to pull off a topless shoot.
I have no inhibitions regarding that. I guess, I’m just adventurous that way, parang gusto ko lang ma-try. Haha. There were a lot of people during the shoot kanina, pero hindi pa rin ako kinabahan.
Apart from going topless, what do you aspire to achieve as a model?
I really, really want to be featured in a billboard! Unfortunately, the opportunity has not shown itself yet.
So if you were given the choice, what product would you want to endorse in your billboard?
Kahit ano, pero gusto ko parang ‘yung kay Angel Locsin, tapos dapat sa Guadalupe siya ilalagay. Haha.
When did you start doing modeling gigs anyway?
I started at a young age, doing little fashion shows here and there. Later on, I did beauty pageants. And I’ve been doing it ever since.
