Going for that long, what things have you done in the biz that you’re most particularly proud of?
Well, apart from the best actress award, I did record an album that got me a gold. I’ve had a chance to do some endorsements, too, and one that I’m very thankful for is being a spokesmodel for Tanduay. Being a Tanduay girl helped my career a lot, they splashed me on billboards, calendars, gave me a TV and a radio ad, plus we had provincial tours, so nakilala talaga ako nang husto. But I’d have to say winning a best actress award for Mano Po is my biggest achievement.
Yes, that. Were you surprised or did you really think you had a fighting chance against the big guns?
I got very good feedback for my role in that movie, but I didn’t let that get to my head because matitindi nga ang kalaban. I just did what was required of me. In hindsight, itong movie talaga na ito ang nag-change sa image ko into a serious actress. Plus I won a lot of new Chinese fans, ha ha ha!
