You strike as a very artistic person.
Yes. I really like traditional art especially painting. Gusto ko siya for the sake of art and not for the money. I’m also a big fan of the ’60s culture; I’m a fan of the Doors, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. I also love sports like skateboarding, long-boarding, and of course, my favorite, surfing. I like being in the water. Actually, I did a poem about surfing and waves. Ang dami ko rin kasing natutunan when I started surfing, kasama na dun yung pag-practice ng patience.

And you’re always trying out new things?
I’m a daredevil. I’m open to change. On the other hand, I am also a dreamer who’s in love with colors, people, and places. I love helping others na kilalanin yun kultura ng bawat lugar. I believe there’s beauty in everyone.

What is it about beaches that you like?
When I go to the beach or out of town, I forget all the comforts of home. One of my favorite movies is Danny Boyle’s “The Beach,” gusto kong gawin yung ginawa ni Leonardo DiCaprio dun sa movie.

What do you do on a regular day?
I hang out with my friends. Kahit saan kami mapadpad. We do long boarding, skate boarding, food trip—hindi mawawala yun. I go to rock gigs.

How do you see yourself in five years?
Still on the beach, surfing, and at the same time having my own set of paintings. Aside from that I want to have my own bar at the beach, serving Mexican food and drinks and playing good music especially when the sun is about to set. I imagine people gathering at my bar, lounging as we all both witness the sun setting and thanking the one above for giving us such a perfect day.

As they would say, “cosmic”! On the other hand, what’s the most daring thing you’ve done?
When I was in high school, my best friend and I, wala lang nagti-trip lang kami sa isang beach na kami lang yun tao. Nagtanggal kami ng clothes and we were running and screaming, “We’re free, we’re free!” Parang ganun. Ang saya saya lang ng pakiramdam. Parang na-feel ko yung freedom sa ilang minuto na yun.
