How do you describe our country to your fellow Brazilians?
I’ve been in the Philippines three times over the past two years. For me the Philippines is the best country in Asia to live, it’s the kind of place where I feel at home.
But is there anything you don’t like about our country?
It’s so hard to find healthy food here. The fruits in the supermarket are expensive while the local food is too oily and [the menus are] without salads. I think the way Pinoys eat is really bad. Eating rice, meat, and fast-food meals all the time is bad for the health. I also have an issue on how a country imports almost all foods from other countries. I think it’s so important for a country to rely on its own produce. Last, but not the least, I think the Philippines should move away from being a society of consumption. I am scared of your many shopping centers; I believe that the country needs less shopping centers and more parks and libraries.
Noted. What can we do to impress you then?
Something that always impresses me is intelligence. I love staying near smart people. I’m also impressed by people thatdo something to try to change the world but don’t ask anything in return. I also like people that work in social projects and have big dreams.
We took the liberty of web stalking you and found out that you list Communism as your political view. Care to explain that?
I live in a capitalist world but in my heart I’m a communist. For me communism is the best economic system. I love the ideas of Marx and I think this world is so cruel and unfair. I don’t feel comfortable with the idea that somebody can have a luxurious lifestyle while many people have nothing to eat.
We take it that politics is something you’re really passionate talking about?
Yes! I can talk about politics for hours and I strongly encourage Filipinos to vote this coming elections. It is important to choose good leaders to run our countries. However I think that people should stop depending on politicians to resolve their own problems, because politicians also have their own personal agenda.
We also read that you’re into mathematics, physics and science. Does that mean you’re a nerd inside?
I did four years of Physics in one of the most reputed universities in Brazil. I love science. Almost all my friends in Brazil are scientists. I actually plan to work again in science and education after my modeling career. It’s wonderful when you can understand each small part of the universe. Physics to me is amazingly beautiful.
