It’s disturbing to think that there are now people who go to Boracay just to party and not to swim. That’s like going to a movie theater just to eat the popcorn. Sure, Boracay has a rocking nightlife, and it’s great to party on an island. But not enjoying the sun and sand defeats the purpose, not to mention it disrespects the splendid—albeit commercialized—world-class beach that we have.
While Boracay is far from the virginal haven it once was, the clear water and powdery white sand are still there. What was once a quiet oasis has now become a full-blown tourist attraction. This has brought in added income from tourism, as beach-lovers from around the world have brought their currency in exchange for a local tan.
Lucky for us, Boracay has also attracted a special sun-worshipper from Russia in the form of 22-year old Aleksandra Bloshchinskaya. FHM found her wandering the island, soaking in the laidback atmosphere.
As opposed to locals, AKA us—who cannot disconnect Boracay from the idea of alcohol and partying—visitors like Aleksandra prefer to enjoy the beach the way God intended: by doing anything they want, even if it’s just doing nothing. Then again maybe she already partied hard the night before, growing up in the land of vodka just increased her resistance to liquor.
Sights like Aleksandra are also a reminder to us about the perils of drinking and partying. By keeping our mental faculties in the realm of consciousness, we wouldn’t miss out on the special sights Boracay has to offer, like the pictures you see here...
