In our 50th issue, our pick for the best ever FHM Philippines cover was yours, the one shot in Manila Bay for the September 2000 issue. What do you think did it for that cover?
I’m fortunate because I work with talented people. I won’t shoot otherwise. If you are going to do something, it’s got to be worthwhile. As for that shoot, I think it comes down to the chemistry of the team. Francis Abraham was the photographer, I used to shoot with him a lot and he is great to tease on the set. It was styled by Luis Espiritu whom I have been friends with forever. The makeup was by Steven Doloso—he knows my face, doesn’t use a lot of products, and I think he’s brilliant.

It’s been a long time since that FHM appearance. How’s life been?
Well, in the past six years, my life has changed considerably. I moved cities, went back to school, graduated, and started a new career. Work keeps me busy and a little stressed, but I can’t complain. I love New York, I think the environment promotes more growth. As for interior design, aside from my projects in the US, every time I vacation in the Philippines and Australia, there always seems to be a family member or friend who is in the middle of construction or renovating, so I usually get roped into that.
