It’s been ages since Pinoy Fear Factor was aired, what do you think made you an unforgettable Participante?
The part where I ate spiders. People always ask me what it tastes like. I was the only girl left in the finals, and two other boys. Ako yung pinakamabilis kumain ng gagamba.
You claim to have arachnophobia. Have you finally made peace with the creepy crawlers?
I’m still afraid of spiders. I can’t look at them, more so touch them. I conquered the fear during that moment. But whenever I look back, I can’t seem to think how I did it.
Were you not intimidated by the male Participantes?
I thought of that, too. I always ask myself: “Kaya ko ba ‘to”? And I always end up with the same answer: “Kaya ko ‘to”! Whenever a game starts I always think: “‘tong mga ‘to, di na lang magpatalo, para yung babae ang manalo”. Do you know about the Law of Attraction? The Secret?
So you’ve seen the documentary?
It helped me a lot. Before I flew to Argentina, people around me—my Tita, my father and those from work—all motivated me to be more optimistic of things. Think positive, walang aayaw. You know how it feels when you think you can’t do something? Incredible things start to happen when you start believing in yourself.
What other fears did you overcome during the competition?
I was a claustrophobe before and I really don’t ride elevators. I always choose to take the stairs. Kahit hanggang 30th floor pa siya. Biro lang! Na-overcome ko siya nung humiga kami sa coffin tapos nilubog sa water na sobrang lamig!
Your other claim to fame is being a comedienne—what makes you laugh the hardest?
I pick on men. But you know how a joke is sometimes just a tease. Yung kunwari, hoy kuya ang gwapo mo naman, Joooke! Ang ganda naman ng tenga, yung mga ganun na pampalubag-loob pero nanlalait ka na pala.
You seem like a jolly person—what’s with the strong façade?
I’m just not the type to cry in front of another person. If I can help it, I would just keep things to myself. Feeling ko may pag-ka boyish ako. Pero babae ako ha! I want to be seen as a strong person, not just another weak woman.
You hosted a variety show before and even played a kontrabida in a teleserye, what do you like doing the most?
That would be acting. I want to improve my acting skills. Kasi ako more on challenging roles.
