Is the lead character inspired by a real gay teen? If yes, who is he? Please give details about him? How did you meet the real Maxie? If not inspired by a real gay teen, where did the concept of the movie come from?
I remembered Macmac, my childhood friend, while I was thinking of the character. And I only remembered that he was very feminine just like Maxi, wearing short shorts and sleeveless short tops. I was like 4 or 5 years older than him but we were neighbors in Sta. Mesa where I used to spend summer vacations with my aunts. He was about 9 or 10 and I was maybe 13, in my freshman year in high school.The concept for the story came about while I was brainstorming with friends from ufo (Raymond Lee, Emman Dela Cruz, Jade Castro, Ned Trespeces). We wanted Maxi to be the only girl in a family of criminals who falls in love with a policeman. I was left to write the storyline. I just pretty much went back to the feeling of first love, the excitement and the disillusionment.

How did you research or look for material for the film?
Didn`t have time to research. I just recalled everything from experience. I know people who live in the slum area so I know how they speak and act. Reading the tabloids also helped. When I was revising the script, it helped that we were in pre-production already so I went to the ocular to get the feel of the place. Everything else was imagined.
