Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codinera, The Captain and his Defense Minister
In 1988, Purefoods drafted Alvin Patrimonio from Mapua and Jerry Codinera from UE allowing PBA to bear witness to the birth of what was to be the most bullish frontcourt the league has seen. Patrimonio was an offensive monster and is now widely regarded as the best power forward ever. Codinera was known for his ferocious defense inside the paint, and holds the record for most blocks in a game with a count of 11. Together, they punished the competition for 12 years. resulting in 6 championships for Purefoods. They’ve also been in a few movies together, but that’s a story.

Francis M. and Ely Buendia, two icons sing as one
Ely Buendia and Francis M. are visionaries who helped usher in the new generation of music in the Philippines. On their own, these icons both have their legacies secured. But when the two collaborated for the song “Superproxy,” we got a taste of what happens when genius meets genius. They finally got the chance to work on a full-length album called “The Sickos Project” but Francis’ sad, untimely death put a halt to it. The Sickos Project will forever be one of the biggest what-ifs in Philippine music.
