Writer-director John Hughes, director of famed 80s teen flicks like The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, died on Thursday (Friday, Manila time). He was 59.

He was taking his morning walk in Manhattan when a heart attack, proved to be fatal later on, suddenly struck him. Hughes was in the Big Apple to visit family.

His coming-of-age movies like Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club were must-see's that moved, guided, and kept confused teen-agers of the 80s company. He wrote the 90s Christmas hit Home Alone, which for many was the definitive Christmas movie.

Curly Sue was his last directorial credit. Ah, what can we say? Thanks for keeping us company of our days off, John.
