What’s the best way to deal with these individuals?
Seeing a particularly hurtful statement or one that hatefully disagrees with your viewpoints will make you want to pounce on that keyboard furiously and come up with something that will let you get back at the troll. But trust us you don’t want to do that. The troll is only trying to bait you into a flame war. Instead, take a deep breath, and just let it pass.

DO NOT feed the trolls.

What is a flame war?
If you decide to hurl a big boulder of pain back at the troll, you better be ready for a flame war, which is basically an endless, ENERGY-DRAINING cycle of arguments between you and the troll. Most of the time, flame wars end up proving nothing at all—except for the fact that, in the process, you have actually joined their ranks, becoming a troll yourself.

Remember, trolls are elementary level attention-whores who get their kick from trash-talking on the Internet. And in the end, the arguments between you and the troll will get less and less coherent devolving into somewhat of a standard poo-slinging battle between monkeys. So again, just let it pass, report the user for his ways, and hope he gets banned from the site or forum.

As you can see, it’s pretty entertaining stuff. But please, don’t allow yourself to be one of them. The Internet with the anonymity it gives you, will sometimes make you want to say things you normally wouldn’t say in person. But just remember that what you say might be hurtful just the same. We have enough trolls as it is, so please don’t add to that number.
