2. Eddie Gil
Tagline: “Babayaran ko ang utang ng bawat Pilipino!”
Coolness Factor: Pelukang itim
We love Eddie Gil for the sheer entertainment value he has provided during the midst of the previous presidential elections. People may not agree with us, but at least he made good use of his prolonged 15 minutes of fame. Eddie’s daughter almost entered showbiz, while the guy himself even had a hit novelty song. Let’s hope and pray that Mr. Eddie Gil doesn’t surprise us all this year.
3. Prospero Pichay
Tagline: “Pichay, itanim sa senado!”
Coolness Factor: The name Pichay itself
Prospero Pichay’s intentions are well and good, but the tagline they came up with didn’t help him at all in the credibility department. Still, we can’t help but think that he somehow knew that. The tagline, after all, made us remember who he is in the first place.
4. Team Unity
Tagline: “MaS PARa SA KIDZ Mo!“
Coolness Factor: The shameless abbreviation
This campaign made us remember how we used to struggle to memorize all the important words in a high school music exam, thus the use of abbreviations like “Every Good Boy Does Fine” or “FACE.” We are not certain how MaS PARa SA KIDZ Mo went in terms of success, but we do know the amount of giggles and gags it took from everyday pranksters.
5. Antonio Trillanes
Tagline: “Bayang Malinis”
Coolness Factor: The no-nonsense approach
All coup attempts aside, Trillanes already had credibility on his side for being a member of the army. His political advertisement has only helped him more. Notice how they used a non-smiling footage of the guy; big risk, don’t you think? What sealed the deal was the “jail shot.” Who would dare do such thing? Apparently, Antonio Trillanes would.
