Party Fever
The party train once again starts to gain steam as these Friday and Saturday nights are jampacked with all the best clubbing experiences.
Let’s start off with Super Swagger Friday happening at Bliss Ultra Club at Tomas Morato. Featuring Hiphop, Mashup, and Bounce music by DJ Richard, DJ Lime, and DJ Chinaman, this party’s going to be shaking.
Over at the opposite end of the metro, Republiq once again hosts Soiree Fridays, hosted by the Styles Entertainment Group, Johnny Verse, and Jerz Oliveria. At the DJ’s booth will be DJ Ace, DJ Bcal, and DJ Mars spinning the best hiphop, dance, and top 40 hits.
Remember to bring a valid ID. Dress code will also be strictly enforced. Republiq is located at The Plaza, Resorts World, Newport City, Pasay.
On Saturday we head on over to another prime night-time destination, Prive Establishment. Prive Saturday happens here where it’s not just the music that’s appealing but also the designer cocktails and hors d'ouvres by award-winning chef, Chef Godfrey Laforte.
Music will be provided by DJ Raffy and DJ Bombi, with Ponchit Ponce Enrile Rocha and Robyn Renne Narciso doing the hosting duties. No entrance fee.
For table reservations, contact 09222617791. The Prive Establishment is at The Fort Entertainment Complex, Taguig City.
And last but not the least, we’ve got After Hours: Saturday Nights at LAX where DJ Coki and DJ Buzz will be spinning the best tunes, with MC Jaygo on the mic.
As always, it’s going to be a night to remember or possibly not because of all the booze you’ll be drinking. Drink moderately though!
Concert on West African Music and Dance
For a musical experience that’s not your usual rock and pop, check out A Concert on West African Music and Dance by the UP Kekeli Ensemble led by percussionist and Professor Dr. Royal Hartigan on August 20, 7 PM.
Presented by The University of the Philippines College of Music Department of Musicology, the concert will be held at the UP College of Music Abelardo Hall Auditorium featuring the thunderous beats and the playful feet of the UP Kekeli African Drumming and Dancing Ensemble.
Some members of the troupe even went to Ghana to study the African dances, so rest assured, it’s going to be an authentic experience.
We’ve also found out that the group usually only performs when led by a master drummer from the culture, but they have been allowed to do so even without one just for this special night. The group is also said to be the first of its kind in Asia, so don’t miss this unique experience! Entrance is free as well!
101 Jonjemons: The Pinoy Fowerlist
We’ve heard of jejemon and beckimon, but Jonjemon? What exactly is it? You can imagine our delight when we eventually read past the title and found out that oh, it’s just the title of Jon Santos’ new show, which we expect to be as funny as ever. Clever.
The show will be held on August 20 and 21 at the Greenhills Promenade, and will center on “101 Pinoy icons, celebrities, and politicians that made us laugh, rant rave and retch in the current society.”
A few notables include Krissie Anino, Nyoy Nyoy, Gloring Macatagal Arroyo, Manny Sapakyaw and Ate Vi of all Seasons, Jajejijomar Binay, the country's first black vice president, and even FHM covergirl Priscilla Mayriles!
