SUNDO
Imago
Album: Blush (2007)
Director: Marie Jamora
When vocalist Aia de Leon metamorphosed into this ebullient ingenue–that meant better hair and makeup, but doing headstands on stage–so did she become confident fronting the band. “Sundo” saw her really acting in a video, showing subtle gestures of loneliness and anticipation. Director Marie Jamora’s choice of location, and the soft hues she washed it with, amplified the sentiments of the song. When we saw Aia lying on the ground for no reason, it was both soothing and unsettling.
HANGGANG NGAYON
Kyla
Album: Way to Your Heart (2001)
Director: Lyle Sacris
Kyla singing while inside a refrigerator. Slapshock vocalist Jamir lying in a tub full of goo. There’s a lot of melancholy in this, yes, but the eeriness makes this one a favorite for a lot of video lovers.
Kung Wala Ka
Hale
Album: Hale (2005)
Director: Topel Lee
The moodiness and the pogi-ness of Hale meant that their videos had to have that soft, lilting feel to them. And so here we saw monochromes on decrepit surroundings and a soft rain pouring.
