Electric cars are all the rage right now. Elon Musk, who pioneered in zero-emission vehicles through Tesla Motors Inc., has reigned supreme in battery-powered vehicles...until now.

Mercedes-Benz looks primed to emerge Tesla's toughest competitor in the field of electric vehicles as it introduced to the public the new Generation EQ sub-brand during the Paris Motor Show last Thursday.

According to Mercedes CEO Dieter Zetsche, the 400-hp Mercedes EQ promises to deliver a 310-mile driving range fully charged.

And since we are a touch-screen loving generation, the company decided to get inspiration from devices such as the iPhone. The Generation EQ has a virtual console with blue light that is seemingly floating in the center of the car. There are also no physical vehicles. Touch screen all the way!

It is planned to be released in showrooms three years from now so we really wouldn't have to wait that long before our roads are graced with this eco-friendly ride.

Let's just all admire the prototype for now.
