Over the weekend, Disney held its fifth D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Fans were treated to exclusive reveals from Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, which presented their new projects to the public including Coco, The Incredibles 2, and Wreck It Ralph 2.
Aside from these, the entertainment company announced a lot of other awesome stuff that will excite your inner man-child. Here are some highlights from the convention.
Although no new story details were revealed for The Last Jedi during D23, the second installment of the Star Wars reboot is looking better than ever with director Rian Johnson and actress Daisy Ridley sharing a behind-the-scenes footage that gives a lot of insight on the upcoming film.
Toy Story 4
Seven years since the release of the third film installment in the Toy Story franchise, director John Lasseter announced that he will be leaving the next sequel to the capable hands of John Cooley. Toy Story 4 is slated to hit cinemas in June 2019.
Kingdom Hearts 3
It’s about time Toy Story got some love after footage of Kingdom Hearts 3 showed Sora, Donald Duck and Goofy finally meeting Woody and Buzz Lightyear in their world. The third sequel to the highly popular game franchise which fans have been waiting for over a decade will be coming out in 2018.
Live-action Aladdin cast
At D23, Disney finally revealed the main cast for its Aladdin live-action remake. Mena Massoud (Jack Ryan) bagged the titular role and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) will be starring as princess Jasmine. Meanwhile, veteran actor Will Smith will be tapped to play the iconic role of the Genie.
Avengers: Infinity War ensemble
Last but definitely not the least, Marvel caused another geekgasm with a surprise gathering of their massive cast in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War slated for a 2018 release.
In a rare moment, we saw the likes of Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes Dave Bautista (Drax), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) share the stage and have some fun. We also got our first good look at Josh Brolin who plays the main villain Thanos.
