Former beauty queen Janine Tugonon has been chosen as one of the calendar models of Nu Muses, a project of Treats magazine founder Steve Shaw and celebrity photographer David Bellemere.
Shaw and Bellemere envision the first ever Nu Muses calendar as a tool to "reestablish 'the nude' as fine art to grace the walls of art galleries and collectors' portfolios."
An ABS-CBN News article quoted Shaw as saying, "We need to bring back the female form as classic fine art that is highly celebrated verses gratuitous."
Tugonon—who was first runner-up in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant—was picked along with 11 other models by a panel of judgess to be a part of the prestigious calendar. Social media voting was also part of the selection process. The models will receive $10,000 each and will be "photographed nude" by Bellemere at an "exclusive location."
Tugonon was ecstatic over the gig, saying, "I thought I did really bad during the test shoot and final casting since I was having a bad day that day.But [I] got the call from my agent few days after and it was amazing!"
Tugonon's view on nudity was likewise highlighted in her profile on the Nu Muses website. "Nudity for me is art at its purest form. It is the bare, the untouched and the raw beauty that a woman can showcase and be proud of," she stated.
