Now that the new Darna has been confirmed, the search is on for the next Valentina.

If there is one character that had been packaged with the Filipino superheroine in every media other than Ding, it would be the villainess who has serpents for locks. At the moment, director Erik Matti must be screening furiously for the ideal actress to do justice to the role of terrorizing Liza Soberano.

If ever he's open for suggestions, consider these 5 reincarnations of past Valentinas our unsolicited endorsement:

Celia Rodriguez
Lipad, Darna, Lipad! (1973)

Modern-day equivalent: Iza Calzado

She just has an air about her that reminds us of the woman touted as the gold standard for local villainesses. Iza, having worked with Celia in the past, could even ask the industry veteran for advice. The 34-year-old currently plays the antagonist on A Love To Last, so expect a seamless transition.

Pilita Corrales
Darna: Ang Pagbabalik (1994)

Modern-day equivalent: Anne Curtis

Never mind the vocal chops; the TV host and the Asia's Queen of Songs share another quality besides being mestizas: effortless charisma. Anne will take on the mantle of someone whom you should hate but would love at the end of the day.

Cherie Gil
Darna: Ang Pagbabalik (1994)

Modern-day equivalent: Sarah Lahbati

The primera contravida actually played the snake queen's daughter, Valentine, but is one of the more recognized faces behind the character. As for Sarah, this would be the perfect launchpad for her comeback in acting. She also might want to take cues from baby Zion's legendary curls.

Alessandra de Rossi
Darna (2005)

Modern-day equivalent: Angelica Panganiban

To be honest, Alex is still very much capable of reprising the role. Angel is actually included in our list of Darna candidates, but she could also easily slip into Valentina's scales because of her ability to be hilarious and cruel at the same time.

Iwa Moto
Darna (2009)

Modern-day equivalent: Arci Muñoz

If this happens, get ready to witness a passing of the torch between StarStruck batchmates (Season 3). It would be interesting to see how Arci's stage presence as Philia frontwoman will translate to the small screen—only with a bunch of snakes on her head.
