Starting last year, Sony Computer Entertainment holds their own annual gaming event called the PlayStation Experience. At the event, big announcements are made to whet the appetite of everyone who loves the PlayStation in its various forms.

This year, the event was held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California from December 5 to 6, 2015. By now, the dust has settled, and we’ve had ample time to sift through the trailers released at the event. Below are the 12 that really stuck on us.


1) NI-OH

What is it: A samurai action game from Team Ninja, the makers of Ninja Gaiden and the Dead Or Alive series.

What it reminds us of: Capcom-slasher Onimusha meets the crazy-ass action of Ninja Gaiden!

2) A DESTINY RACING MINI-GAME

What is it: A racing DLC called the "Sparrow Racing League mode" for Bungie's hit shooter, Destiny.

What it reminds us of: Wipeout on steroids!

3) PARAGON

What is it: A MOBA for the PS4 from Epic Games!

What it reminds us of: League of Legends or DOTA with weaponry that would make Unreal blush!

4) BRUTAL

What is it: A stylish action title exclusive to the PS4

What it reminds us of: If Diablo were set in the world of Tron.

5) GOLEM

What is it: An exclusive title for PlayStation's virtual reality system, the PlayStation VR, made by Highwire Games—a new developer composed of former Bungie (Halo, Destiny) employees.

What it reminds us of: Shadow of the Colossus (except now, you're the colossus.)

6) NI NO KUNI 2: REVENANT KINGDOM

What is it: The sequel to the critically acclaimed PS3 RPG, Ni No Kuni

What it reminds us of: What the cult-hit Suikoden would look like if Studio Ghibli made it.

7) 100 FOOT ROBOT GOLF

What is it: A golf game...with 100-foot robots...being designed exclusively for Playstation VR.

What it reminds us of: The goofiness from the PS2's weirdest hit, Katamari Damacy, plus Godzilla's desctructive powers.

8) RATCHET AND CLANK

What is it: A remake of the beloved PS2 platformer, Ratchet And Clank!

Also look out for: The Ratchet And Clank movie coming out just a few weeks after this does.

9) ACE COMBAT 7

What is it: The world's most popular jet fighter simulator takes flight again, this time as another PlayStation VR exclusive.

Did you know: The series is now 23 years old, with the first game in the series, Air Combat, being released for the arcades in 1992.

10) YAKUZA O

What is it: The prequel to the Yakuza series, released in Japan earlier this year for the PS3 and PS4. It's finally getting an English release as the game gets its American version. Translation: We can finally play it and understand what they’re actually saying!

11) NUCLEAR THRONE

What is it: A quirky post-apocalyptic shooter with a top-down perspective released on Steam back in 2013, but has just been released last December 6 for the PS4 and the Vita.

What it reminds us of: A more colorful version of this old Rambo game for the Sega Genesis.

12) FINAL FANTASY VII

What is it: The PS4 remake for one of the most beloved RPGs of all time.

This just in: The remake will be an episodic, multi-part title but Square promises that every entry will be equivalent to a full-sized game.
