It was a roundtable interview that really wasn’t. For one, the table that divided the interviewers (guys from MYX, Oddyseylive, and Pulp Magazine) and the interviewees (Franco Reyes, Buwi Meneses, and 8 Toleran of Franco) was in fact, more of a rectangular shape. [firstpara] But complain, we didn’t. There were pizzas in front of us.

And there was Franco. A superband, who never wanted to be known as one. They say they’re just a bunch of friends who, got together for a jam one day, and who also happened to like similar things of organic descent.

They have just released their self-titled debut record, which, in the simplest terms possible, rocked. Of course, we had questions we want answered.

There are some pretty big personalities in the band. Have there been clashes?
Franco
: Sa ngayon, hindi naman. We started off as friends eh. Which made it easier for us to, you know, talk about things. So hindi talaga nag-ka-clash. Pag magkasama naman kami lagi lang kami tumatawa e. Haha.

And scheduling mishaps?
8
: Kung hindi makakapunta the rest, may way pa rin. Kunwari nagkagig yung ‘Dub or si Buwi, may mga sessionists naman kami na kakilala. Basta medyo hawig nila,ok na. Haha.

How about in the writing process?
Franco
: Kasi with this album, everything was already written ‘eh. Before kasi, drummer lang tapos ako ‘eh. He did the drums and I did the rest.

The first album was awesome! Can you tell us more about it?
Franco
: Most of the songs are based on real life, friendship, and relationships. Pero may isang catalyst na we think alam nyo na kung ano yun. Haha. ‘Yung green na...’yung herb. There’s a sense of camaraderie in the album, aside from the usual topics of love.

What’s your favourite song in the album?
Franco
:  Mahirap pumili, but I would say yung acoustic, kasi I wrote that song for my dad. It wasn’t supposed to be in the album pero we had an acoustic session before, and I sang that song.

Nagustuhan nila, and they said why don’t we include that in the album. I was afraid to put that in, but it came out good. And it’s really personal, and a good touch to the album.
